I hope you all took advantage of the free videos I have been touting for a week, now. (If you haven’t, I may be able to hook you up.) But the time for lapping up the free tidbits is over.
Dinner is served: ACX Master Class
Several of my colleagues who have taken the class in the last couple of years recently admitted to me that they wished they had jumped when I started bragging about the class six years ago.
Don’t be that person.
This class has been updated with lots of new stuff. Nothing has changed more in audiobooks than the business of making them. You need this class. Get all the details before making up your mind. If you still have doubts, you can always ask me.
Today is the day (and you can get Dan & David to help pay your way. ) It’s all explained here: ACX Master Class
Just a short note from me today.
I’ve been haranguing all of you for the past week to watch a series of free videos about the business of narrating audiobooks. That third, and last video is out today. Don’t worry if you missed the first two; you can catch up on them from the same link…
View them before Saturday night, when they will go away.
On Monday, the first of a series of free audiobook narrator training videos that Dan and I put together was released.
That training continues today with the second free video lesson, available here: Free Video 2
(The first video’s still available so you can get with the program.)
And in this second video, you’ll see successful narrators themselves cutting through the BS that’s out there about audiobook production and ACX.
See why most audiobook narrators struggle…and eventually give up…and how you can be different.
The truth that’s uncovered is staggering:
— How ACX really works, instead of how many narrators think it works
— Why audiobook narration is anything but grueling…or at least, why it doesn’t have to be for you
— How pro narrators finish their books so quickly and with such high quality
— How to find the ACX projects that will likely pay well (and what projects to pass on)
— A bombshell: take a look at actual sales figures of typical (and atypical) audiobook narrators
— And finally, a clear explanation of ACX’s Royalty Share Plus option.
It’s rare to hear from talent who are actually making it work on ACX, either as a side hustle they are happy with, or as their full-time profession.
You can watch the video right now, and you can ask both Dan and me questions about what you see, right below the video. We’ll be reading them all and answering those we can.
Hope this helps!
David
PS…if you know of another voice talent that could benefit from knowing the real skinny on what it takes to be successful at audiobooks on ACX and other platforms, feel free to pass this on.
Get up to speed on all the latest changes in the Audiobook Narration business. Lots has changed since last year—more than I can explain here. So I’m just going to turn you over to the experts who taught me everything I know.
I have recorded dozens of audiobooks (most are still paying me royalties) and have encouraged several of my voice actor colleagues to join me. So here is the message I just got from David H. Lawrence VII:
So, audiobooks. “A total pain to narrate and produce, with very little return on your time and effort in cash.”
Maybe this is what you’ve been told about audiobook narration?
I get it: someone warned you to stay away from audiobooks because “the recording/editing process takes forever.”
Any of our several hundred students/graduates, however, will tell you a very different story.
As an example…
One of the ACX Master Class graduates who always assumed that, as “the talent,” the technical aspects of audiobook production are simply impossible for a mere performer, now says:
“I was absolutely blown away to find out how easy it was to do all the producing and editing myself. Finding myself now in the position where I can generate my own work is just about the best thing I can imagine as an actor.”
That’s a big difference from “it’s a freakin’ slog, I tell ya.”
And the money? If you do it right, consistently, efficiently and at a high level, you might be able to do what I do: pay the mortgage with my monthly audiobook royalty income – just from ACX.
If getting paid to tell stories appeals to you — or if you’re already narrating and producing audiobooks but aren’t having the success you deserve — I’ve got something for you.
You’re invited to join us for the 2023 ACX Master Class. It starts in a couple of weeks.
And to help you decide if you’re finally ready to launch your audiobook narrator career, or fix the one you already have, my buddy Dan just released the first of 3 free video tutorials.
Check out the first free video here. Free Classes
You’ll find out how one of our first students, an air traffic controller facing mandatory retirement, made one of the most epic decisions of his life: to work from home, on ACX, narrating and producing audiobooks.
(And yeah boy, you’ll be shocked at how many books he’s narrated since he took the class, and all the publishers and producers he’s been working for beyond ACX alone.)
Check the video out now at the link above.
Hope this helps!
David
P.S. On the video’s web page, just below the video, you’ll see a place to add any questions or concerns you may have. Dan and I see every question & comment and will give you straightforward answers.
P.P.S Do a favor for someone you know who would be awesome at audiobooks (like a fellow actor or voice talent) and let them know about this.
